From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This nice little brew pours a dark
ruby tinged brown leaning towards almost black with a nice head of
khaki foam that settles to a thick ring, thin clumping layer, and sports
some nice lacing. Nose of toasted malts, brewers licorice, herbal hops,
cocoa nuances, and some light lager funk. Flavors follow the nose
with some light differences with toasted malts, light licorice, subtle
coffee, and subtle cocoa dashed with herbal hops and grain notes.
Mouth feel is medium light, medium carbonation, smooth, and
finishing pleasantly bitter from the malt.

Overall, would love a session with this. Very nice!

Cheers

12 oz bottle, unclear date

Pours a very dark brown, not quite black. Cream colored head, good head retention. Bready malt aroma - just a hint of roast. Similar taste - for being labeled a black lager, I'd like a little more roasted flavor. Medium bodied.

More cola-colored than black with good clarity and head retention. Fresh malt aroma with a touch of caramel. Were it not for the bit of roast on the palate, I'd think this was a brown ale. Smooth and crisp finish. Pretty tasty.

Poured from the bottle into a pokal style glass.

Faint tan colored head, with fine bubbles and a solid two finger height. Mix of nice red and very dark brown body color. There is some clarity and even some lively carbonation but a pretty solid dark looking brew.

Aroma goes for a bit of sweetness. Coffee and kind of a cola like scent on first try. Very clean sensing with a hint of dry almost black ash flavor as well. Some faint licorice like notes makes itself present on the nose also.

Palate comes off a little lighter than anticipated. A bit of a wet body, causing a bit of lacking flavor. Still there's a decent hint of dark malt filled with weak coffee and more so an unexpected peanut butter like taste. Clean solid lager finish, with just a hint of lively carbonation that almost brings some soda flavor. Mild sensing roast on the finish.

Not terrible by any means, but not quite memorable either.

Clear dark brown/almost black. Mostly a nutty malty tarpons and flavor; would have preferred some more roastiness. Good balance with light sweetness. Fairly light bodied.

Poured into a wide mouth, grip shaped goblet: color is dark brown to near black, head is light tan with fine bubbles that present 1/4 inch thick.

Smell is clean but light - subtle light caramel and toast, grassed hops.

Taste is similar with light flavor but clean - light caramel, toast, hint of roast, maybe touch of cocoa, grassed hops.

Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, low/moderate bitterness.

Overall a good dark/black lager - flavor and aroma are slow to present but are clean and provide malt forward notes with a crisp lagered finish.
