Acquired a bottle from a friend of a friend who works for Flying Dog. Apparently this is never to be released to the public.
A: Light Copper or dark pale depending on your vocabulary. Thin head dissipates quickly
S: Spicy hop aroma with some mild malt sweetness
T: No chocolate. Probably why it won't be released. Good bit of hop flavor, with a slight astringently bitter aftertaste. Not a bad IPA, just not what one would expect with the moniker "Chocolate IPA."
M: Drying finish. Medium full overall, with moderately high carbonation.
O: A respectable IPA, but nothing I'm overly wowed by. They produce better beers than this.

Given to me by a Flying Dog employee in Frederick MD. They explained that unfortunately, the chocolate flavor had disappeared after bottling so the entire batch of bottles and cases couldn't be sold to the public. I hope they repackage it as a regular IPA though, great stuff!
A= nice copper-sepia tone, decent head.
S= fantastic hops florals selection, great bold malts.
T= a fantastic IPA. High IBU but balanced and not over-bitter. Bold malts flavor. A slight note of toffee in the finish. At least some portion of the real chocolate's contribution seems to remain!
M= clean IPA hops bitterness, no bite, just a nice malty hop-floral memory to savor.
O= probably one of my favorite IPA's-- which unfortunately I won't have ever again!
