Stray is a modern West Coast IPA. Brewed with light malt, big doses of Krush + Simcoe cryo hops, and fermented cold and clean. We dialed it up with some potent Strata Hyperboost for max effect.

On tap at Swifwater Brewing in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a clear light yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like lemon candy, grapefruit, and caramel malt.

I’ve liked a lot of the beers I’ve had from Collage so far, but this was a little bit of a miss for me. It’s not quite bitter enough for a West Coast IPA – it’s a little sweet, a little malty, and a little bit weirdly fruity in a way I don’t appreciate. I don’t exactly understand what a cold IPA even is – it doesn’t sound that different from an IPL. However, I tend to enjoy IPLs a lot more than cold IPAs, for whatever reason, so I’m all turned around here.

This is light bodied, but not crisp or drinkable enough.

They’re released mostly tasty beers so far, but you can’t win them all.
