taste- slight citrus spice

color- lemon-orange

clarity- opaque

smell- soft plastic citrus

body- light weight

appearance- small weak head

overall impression- disappointing example of a trippel...while i may have let it sit a little too long, other friends gave it poor reviews as well

notes- this review is for a 2004 vintage

Appearance – Light, florescent orange with a very cheap head.

Smell – Orange syrup aroma with a bit of bready yeast. There are also huge doses of coriander and cinnamon to this one.

Taste – The orange syrup overpowers the yeast, keeping this one very one-dimensional and uninspired. The spices from the nose though join in just fine, along with a noticeable alcohol warming.

Mouthfeel – Very flat and thin for an AT.

Drinkability – I enjoy many of the offerings that this brewery has given us over the years, but this one left me cold and disappointed.

Hazy golden hue. Thin white collar. Very hoppy and citrusy nose for a tripel. Flowery and grapefruity hops dominate the doughy yeast and subdued toasty malt. Toasty and fruity palate. Banana concentrate, thick citrus juice. Very soft carbonation, nice medium body. Ultimately, after the initial hop schock, this is not particularly complex nor displaying enough malt deepness to be as classy as the competition, but it’s a successful attempt at originality. Centennial-hopped tripel? Thanks to RoyalT once again for all those great beers!

Very cloudy and murky sample. Mixed feelings about appearance. What is the source of turbidity?

Possible infection. Cheddar cheese aroma with sour yeast whiffs.

Very complex overwhelming chalk yeast flavor.

Massive carbonation and sour profile gives a champagne like flavor, but with a lingering tart and sour aftertaste.

Definitely an interesting creation, but not that enjoyable, imho.
