Color is more of a dark amber-tinged brown than black. Creamy foam in the pint shaker is inviting. Light body. Actually this is about the best beer I've tasted from this place, which they seem to have revived from over a decade ago.
This is not overly burnt tasting, and there's a mellow malty flavor with just some char in the aftertaste. Crisp and refreshing with a pleasant dark grainy taste and a bitter edge. On tap at the brewery restaurant.

Pours a dark black with brown and ruby streaks, the head is a mocha tan. Looks like a porter, the smell however was very suprising, hints and traces of roasted barley but a very nice sweet plum and grape smell, smells like a fine wine, the tase is very similar, a nice nectar of fruit on the first sip with traces of roasted coffee beans and toffee malts bringing up the rear, love the taste of this.

Appearance Yes, this was very dark, almost black, with an orangish tint around the edges and a big, lasting head.
Smell The deep, dark, musty blackish aroma leapt from the glass. It was complimented with a significant floral hop balance and some light coffee notes.
Taste This started off more like a doppelbock but then the super bitter smoky malts kicked in. These sharp flavors persisted all the way through to the end. It was burnt, ashy, and not for the faint of heart.
Mouthfeel Medium-bodied with a puckeringly bitter finish.
Drinkability This is only for those who enjoy abusing their taste buds.
