Very dark brown brew with a wisp of foam in the pint shaker. Fairly malty with a dark roasted taste, more like a porter. The smoke flavor is not very distinct and it's quickly buried under the quite bitter hops. I wish this place would get better hops and use them with restraint.
Gets kind of harsh after a half a glass, but I'm glad to see LC trying some new stles. Unfortunately this one compares unfavorably with the smooth and fragrant Rauchbier Märzen I drank yesterday at Chuckanut Brewing.
