Deepest dark brown, opaque, a finger's beige head that quits quickly, and leaves some nice lace behind and a nice skim on surface.
Vanilla and burnt caramel front the bouquet, hints of chocolate and coffee/herbal roast close behind for a sweet and full aroma.
Nice flavors here. Vanilla, the main player, and dark caramel sweet hold hands with some roasty char, dark chocolate,, coffee. First sip tastes too sweet to work, but the clean flavors, and just dry enough finish make for a wonderful taste. As it warms yeast notes enter the mix, tastily.
Easy drinking for a porter of this much flavor, plenty of carb., and a tasty finish that begs for another sip.
A few exceptional American versions in this style, this isn't in that league, but it is a damn good beer, the best new one of Tommy's I have tasted in a while.
