Stout with Bourbon Whiskey 7.5%
The word Whiskey comes from the Gaelic “uisge beatha”, which means “water of life”. “Whisky” is the original Scottish spelling, while the Irish and Americans write it “Whiskey”. And it is precisely American Bourbon Whiskey that we use in this life-giving and spiritual development of our Munkholmer. The whiskey variant was first brewed in 2007.
Whiskey Stout is a soft and round stout that is excellent for relaxed moments. The taste contains notes of coffee, dark chocolate and vanilla with a discreet rounding of whiskey.

Copenhagen 12/11 2018. 50 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen, Nykøbing Sjælland. Holbæks usual design in brown.
Pours murky brown with small off-white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is dark, boozy and sweet. Molasses, cocoa, brown sugar, vanilla and distinct aroma of whisky.
Medium strong carbonation. Surprisingly thin and lively texture.
Flavor is heavy sweet followed by moderate bitterness. Avoids being cloying. Aftertaste is sweet and lingers for a while.
Very sweet take on a boozy stout where it seems that the whisky is simply added ro the beer. Might be considered cheating - but I won’t complain.
