Purchased in Otaru. Pour is 95% head with a tiny bit of liquid in the bottom. Smell is metallic and funky. Taste is like a sour mouthful of pennies. Obviously infected beer. I will try again if the opportunity arises but I dont spend much time in small towns in northern Japan so that maybe a while from now.

Appearance: Yellow-brick-road transparent yellow with a lots of hefty bubbles that coalesce into an airy white head with sub-par retention (low hop profile?).
Smell: Fresh grain with a musty silo aroma, some caramel notes, a bit of sweet corn, and a weak, dandeliony floral and ever-so-slightly-endive-like spicy hop aroma.
Taste: Crisp and surprisingly bitter, almost too bitter for the lightness of the malts. Mildly sweet and crackery base with a soda water mineral quality, plus a tangy, highly acidic, leave-your-mouth-spic-and-span peppery-floral hop character. Very dry, lip-smacking finish.
Mouthfeel: Very airy but not terribly soft. Bubbles seem to merge with each other to form larger bubbles before finally collapsing on the palate.
Drinkability: I hate to give this such an unfavorable review because it was MUCH better on tap, but there you have it. It was much better on tap. In the bottle, it's a pretty shruggable Pils and not on par with some of the Japanese macros' better (but still cheaper) offerings.

This pilsener has a characteristic pale yellow hue, and great frothy bubbles that diminish very, very slowly, with heavy lacing. The smell is a bit hoppy, slightly sweet, nice.
The mouthfeel is excellent. Strong even bubbles dying quickly to a dry hoppy finish. It is refreshing without being sweet. This is a good crisp, well-made beverage.
