Copenhagen 11/4 2021. 37,5 cl bottle from Ølkassen web-shop. Hoppe.beer's usual design with diagonal letters in both directions in gold and green. This time with a little barrel to signify that I am about to drink a barrel-aged brew.
Pours opaque, murky, golden amber with a small white head. Settles as very thin and flimsy patch of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is intense and dominated by sweet malts and dark alcohol. Lightly toasted malts, brown sugar, caramel, oak and sweet dark tequila. Light notes of sour cheese peeking in.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, greasy, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a stronger, tart, sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is tart with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is sweetish, boozy and warming.
Nice barrel-aged boozer with a fair balance and a nice, boozy tang.
