Copenhagen 24/4 2021. 37,5 cl bottle from Ølkassen web-shop. Hoppe.beer's usual design with diagonal letters in both directions in gold and blue. This time with a little barrel to signify that I am about to drink a barrel-aged brew.
Pours murky amber with a small off-white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as thin, path of foam unable to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing.
Aroma is intense with a malty sweet odor soon overpowered by smoky, boozy scent of whisky. Sweet caramel. Peat, smoke, brine, whisky. Woody, boozy nots.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by slightly more moderate sourness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a searing boozy streak. Bitter undertone. Lingering. Finish is bitter and dry.
Intense Barrel-aged brew where I have no doubts that Laphroaig has delivered the barrel soaked in smoke, peat and alcohol.
