Copenhagen 10/5 2021. 37,5 cl solid glass bottle from Ølkassen web-shop. Hoppe.beer's usual design with letters diagonally in two directions and green, golden and black triangles. A little barrel to ensure I understand it is a barrel-aged beer.
Pours unclear, golden amber with a small bubbly white head. Disappears after a few seconds leaving a paper thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is medium intense and with a vinous streak. Sweet fruit mingling with sour berries and a whiff of funk. Pear and oxidized apple. Sour gooseberries. Vinegar and musty cellar. Touch of sour cheese.
Light carbonation. Thin, oily, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a light sweetness followed by a strong sourness. Aftertaste is sour with a notable sweet undertone. Lingers for a bit. Finish is sour and fairly dry.
Decent if somewhat flat, vinous barrel aged brew.
