Copenhagen 12/2 2023. 37,5 cl heavy glass bottle from Craft Makers Collective web-shop. Hoppe.Beers usual design in pale yellow bronze and brown with a small drawing of a barrel to demonstrate that it is a barrel aged beer.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a small. light beige head. A bit bubbly. Settles as a thin patch stretching across the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet odor of dark fruits mingling with sharp dark alcohol. Light tart notes. Brown sugar, plums and raisins. Dark spicy alcohol.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a s strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a searing boozy bitterness lurking underneath. Lingers for a while. Finish is woody alcohol.
Satisfying if flat barrel-aged Imperial Stout.
