Cask pint at the Argyll Arms, Soho. Deep copper colour, white to off-white head. Moderate aroma. Malty flavour, with some tingling fruity hops on the tongue. Nice beer.

Visited the UK and had the opportunity to have more than a few of these at the Golden Lion in Port Isaac. I'm absolutely not an IPA fan, so I went for this one.

It was decent; color light amber to red, smell slightly caramelly yet fruity. Huge head on pour, settling to a thin foam. Interesting tang after swallowing. All in all, a good beer to sit on the balcony with and pass the time with a few good mates.

Hand pulled. Clear copper with a thin frothy head.
Malt and green earthy and fruity hops on the nose.
A nicely balanced taste profile reflecting the aroma. Medium bitter finish.
Moderate body with a light carbonation. A lovely cask feel.
Really nice.

Clear russet with pitted off white head that leaves ribbons of froth.
Toast, marmalade and peach on the nose.
Rusk, dark toast and peach melba up front with lemon rind and some passion fruit for hops. Apricot and tea as it warms.
Butter toffee end and mild but long and clean bitterness.
Light, crisp, some chew.

Have to admit, I was looking for the signature notes of Galaxy hops here, and I found them. Either way, this delivers some twist on the usual English hop notes and some surprisingly real IBUs. That this should be in a session bitter (this is definitely not a blonde) is so much the better.

Another win for St. Austell.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of June 2012, so it's just out of date. Picked up cheap from Trembling Madness in York. The label mentions that Golding and Galaxy hops are used.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A bright coppery-amber colour with medium carbonation. Forms a large head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a thin surface layer. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with notes of fruity ale yeast and stewed hops, along with subtle hints of brown sugar, grain and dried fruit.

Tastes of caramel malt with a dry finish. Slightly sweet. Notes of fruity ale yeast, stewed hops and grain. A hint of sugar, and a mild bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, but a tad insubstantial. Somewhat astringent. Aftertaste of malt and stewed hops.

Not bad; a decent session ale. Good malt aroma/flavour, but lacking in aromatic hops (perhaps due to age). Good drinkability - I could imagine sinking a few of these if the time and place were right. Decent, just not outstanding. Worth trying.

Nice copper, with a thin but dense white head. Sweetish scent, hints of apricot. Light, pleasant malts and crisp hops. The taste is pleasant, lightly bitter. Chewy, bready malts, light bitterness, yeast and mild fruit in the taste.

Low carbonation, nice effervescence. Definitely a great session beer, good low ABV bitter.

Imperial pint on cask at the Oystercatcher in Polzeath, Cornwall. Had this at a St. Austell pub while on holiday in Cornwall.

A: a great colour mixture of tawny and rust-coloured, lighter in colour than the St. Austell flagship ale, Tribute.

S: glorious and typical cask bitter in scent, but not too rustic

T: mellow yet bitter, would be appropriate for a session ale. There are some very mild fruity flavours in here too--bits of citrus or perhaps even melon.

M: tiny bit of carbonation, more than most classic bitters, but in a good way!

O: great beer--not ornate or original but enough derivations from the norm to keep things very interesting

Beer with a cherry red color, with very beautiful foam, white, creamy and decidedly fine: good.
The smell is really fresh and inviting, with a malty based present but not intrusive (biscuit) and a hint of tea leaves and citrus really nice.
Even in the mouth you can pick up the same notes, with tea even more pronounced and a slight hint of delicate rose definitely charming.
The aftertaste reveals the same notes (tea, rose and malt well-mixed), although not particularly persistent (perhaps the only real defect of beer).
Beer to be drunk in large quantities (even thanks to its 3.8%), but also suitable for who is looking for something mildly structured: one of the best Cornish Beer we drunk.
