Introduced in the 1950s, Schooner is a popular Maritime-brewed beer. Unique fruity flavours from the Labatt yeast, and a special blend of North American hops, help deliver a clean, smooth tasting beer. Schooner beer was named after the famous sailing ship, the Bluenose II, which was owned by the Oland family.

Clear pale gold with a modest fizzy head. Inoffensive mild nose. Mild flavour, lightly crackerish. Medium carbonation with a little dryness.

A fairly good take on a blah style. Pours a clear golden color with a decent white head. Average retention and some lacing on the glass. Aroma is mildly malty with some grassy hops. Fairly average lager taste but the stale vegetable adjunct lager taste is missing here. Mild hops and malt. Mouthfeel is a bit thin but it is still somewhat crisp. If you have a choice between a Bud and a Schooner, take the schooner. Not a bad choice with food or a one and done thirst quencher.

This brings back memories of Nova Scotia - almost makes me cry and shrivel up in horror. Anyways, this beer is a little bland. Typical mass market stuff - a Martine version of Miller Lite. Anyways, I have 5 more to drink....here goes....holding my breath. Reminds me of licking an old sailor man
