Brewer notes this is made with rye malt and two kinds of chocolate malt. IBUs are just 33 and hops are Jarrylo for bittering and Sorachi Ace for flavoring. And then there is the cranberry puree. But it's a great concoction and about my favorite beer ever at Elysian Fields.
Color is seriously black in the tall glass with a handsome head and lacing. rich and malty with an unusual undertone of fruits and nuts. Some tartness but full of fruity tang-- if it's cranberries I could believe it. In any case it's a deliciously different beer.
Wonderful hop aromatics. I like this combination of pine and mango. The foamy cap lasts to the final sip. On tap at the restaurant in downtown Seattle.
