22oz bottle with a Duvel Tulip glass

Pours a sligthy hazed golden honey blonde with an immense paper white foam stack. Solid retention efforts leave my glass a mess with the lacy ribbons. Fresh cut citrus fruit, grapefruit and orange with some tropical mango and spice. Some underlying sappy pine and florals to round out. Malt sweetness is nicely subdued here and the acohol as well for that matter. A very nice IPA with a solid citrusy profile and a bit of scrubbing bitterness to it. Dry and clean in the finish with some residual hop linger.

Oh yea, nice looking beer. A bit of a different scent to this brew , I'm thinking funky maltiness with melon notes with slight citrus in the background. A complex nose to this one once you reach. Not totally digging the caramel malt in the flavor profile of this one nor the piney/metallic finish. Not too bad but not my beer when I'm going for an IPA.

Kegged summer 2015; drank 8/14/15 on draft @ Elysian Bar.

Semi-opaque orange appearance.

Off-white head; a curtain of tree-rung lace.

Faint orange citrus notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Faint citrus & faint caramel flavors; inoffensive but very boring. Avoid.

Served on tap into a 12oz glass at the pub. The look is a new version yellow color with a nice head. The smell is citrusy and reminds me of grapefruit. The taste is hoppy and citrusy and is very pleasant but not overbearing. The feel is a little odd, but not unpleasant, with a distinct aftertaste. Overall this is a good beer and I would recommmend trying it

22 oz. bottle - Packaged on 8/26/16:

Pours slightly hazed golden with a white creamy head that lasts and leaves lacing.

The smell is of musty grain, citrus (mainly orange and grapefruit) and honeydew melon.

The taste is of citrus - grapefruit and mandarin orange - with melon and a hint of floral/pine. It is supported by a sweet malt(mildly caramelized). Citrus lingers after a refreshing bitter bite in the dry finish.

Smooth despite the bitterness and slightly noticeable alcohol.

I was "in-between" scores on the overall and went with the higher...There is something very enjoyable and it is certainly one that drinks well. (I would love to buy this is a 6-pack format.) It has a classic American IPA character that is well-done. Hop bitterness and flavor stand out but supported by a nice malt backing that is just sweet enough.

On a personal note, this beer has an interesting name (including the word "break" for me - I rarely have broken a bottle of beer but this one is one of the few. I accidentally dropped it. Fortunately, I found another bottle at the store (Safeway in (west) Bremerton, WA. It was the last bottle on the shelf (which was not the case a couple days before when I originally purchased it. Hopefully, I will find more of this!

Pours into an imperial nonic a slight hazed honey tinged golden with a thin quick to fade white head atop.Fresh floral and tropical fruitiness in the nose, quite fresh smelling, mild caramel malts underneath. The body just gets a tad thin on the back end but it's not bad.Tropical fruits and a hint of grass up front on the palate then a hefty caramel/biscuit maltiness really comes into play, quite balanced.A "solid" offering from Elysian like alot of their stuff I have had....just good and solid.

I bought a bottle of Break Beat IPA in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a hazy gold color with a foamy white head.

Smell is faint, with a light citrus aroma.

Taste is a citrus and pine flavor, more toward the pine and grapefruit.

Mouthfeel is clean and not cloying.

Overall a good IPA. One of many from the fine folks at Elysian.

Poured from 22 oz bottle into standard pint glass. Golden amber color, slight haze. Head diminished quickly. Smell is melon & floral sweet. Taste is on the malty sweet side, some hops bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Dry and crisp mouth feel with some hops bitterness. A good beer overall.

Pours a dark orange with minimal head. Aroma is incredible and complex. Sweet tangerines, pineapple, melon, candy. Taste is very nice. A bit more caramel malt than I would like, pine and a lite hop bitterness are present in addition to the citrus and pineapple flavors. Under rated at 86 for sure. This is a 90+ IPA

This beer pours a hazy golden orange color with a two finger frothy white head. There a thick sheets of lacing and the retention is excellent. The smell is tropical fruit. Mango, pineapple and tangerine are the most apparent. Taste is the same, but more malty. The malt kind of muddled the taste though. Feel is medium. Overall a pretty good beer. Not mad at this at all.

Bomber bottle, "pkg 11/9/15" on the label

Pours hazed tangerine Amber, moderate fine bubble film and low sheeting. Also fine mini fields of lacing.

Citric nose with oranges in play

On the palate it's more citrus with again oranges and grapefruit. Hoppy goodness and accompanied by a nice dry finish. Decent IPA - worth a try.

22oz bottle, the latest in the Manic IPA series, made with Mandarina and Equinox hops.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, bright medium golden amber colour, with one chubby finger of puffy, rocky, and mildly bubbly eggshell white head, which leaves some decent disintegrating ice shelf profile lace around the glass as it quickly sinks out of sight.

It smells of peppy blood orange and white grapefruit pith, warmed caramel malt, a twinge of biscuity toffee, further pineapple and indistinct tropical melon fruity notes, and more leafy, weedy, and herbal hop bitters. The taste is gritty, grainy caramel malt, muddled zesty domestic citrus, underripe honeydew and cantaloupe, a subtle earthy vegetal spiciness, and more plain leafy, floral, and grassy hoppiness.

The bubbles are fairly understated in their gentle and unassuming frothiness, the body a wavering middleweight, and more or less smooth, perhaps a bit of hop prickliness marring the perfect date here. It finishes off-dry, the bready caramel sweetness parrying some lingering citrusy and melonball hop bitterness.

Overall, a pleasant and agreeable fruity IPA, these new-ish (and still trendy, right?) hops doing well to differentiate this offering from its many, many peers. The boundary-teasing ABV is of no real concern, and I think I can now just kick back and sup on the rest of this bomber as tonight's chili starts its long slow-cooker journey.

look- Hazy golden yellow, lots of lacing the head doesn't linger much.

Smell- i get jolly rancher, melon citrus. this beer has a smell that keeps me coming back.candy

Taste- piney on the front that leaves a bit of a lingering bitterness.

Feel- i feel this beer doesn't clean up after itself too well there is a bit of a lingering layer of hops and pine tar

Overall- good i am not sure this is an above average IPA but that wouldn't keep me from ordering it again. I am not drinking it out of a proper tulip, but a wheat beer glass and the smell is still so good. Pretty lacing and Delicious smell sell it for me! I would pair it maybe with Larb ( the Thai dish) think the aroma would compliment the cilantro and onion in the dish and the Lime would cut through the lingering hop bitterness.

Bottle served in a tulip. Beer pours a hazy golden color with a white head. There is some residual lacing. Initial taste is a little bite from the hops which finishes nicely with a slightly malty backbone. A decent beer that I would have again.

Packaged 11/24/15.

Pours a hazy golden-yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, and earthy hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, earth, and peppery hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid citrus and earthy hop flavors, but the smell is a bit subdued to me.

Serving type: bottle.

22oz bomber poured into 16oz goblet

A — Pours an orange and slightly hazy hue into the glass, there is an ivory colored rocky head that forms and leaves some mostly consistent lacing behind it.

S — Smell is somewhat sharp, juicy, bitter, pine, light pineapple and melon sweetness.

T — Pretty bitter but leads to a real sweet and juicy profile, notes of melon, light pepper, pineapple as well. Built on a rather large malt foundation.

M — Medium bodied, sticky & lingering finish.

O — Alright overall, not my favorite but the parts are all there to be appreciated.

Bottle from Albertsons. Right from the onset, things are going well. Near perfect pour, hazy medium golden with medium rocky head. Citrusy aroma is followed by wonderfully hoppy, malty taste, perfectly balanced. Mildly tangy, snappy finish. Manic IPA indeed.

This is my favorite of the Manic IPA series, or any IPA or APA that Elysian makes for that matter. Second favorite is probably Dayglow, but I'm hoping that this beer comes back and with more consistency. I think the opinion of what makes a good IPA varies as does taste and preference. This one is considered by others to be less balanced by some but to me I find it more daring that way. Smells and tastes of citrus and grapefruit and a little piney hop resin. If you find your likes and dislikes all over the map with Elysian like I do (I'm not a fan of space dust for example) than I encourage you to give this one a try for yourself.

Not a bad ipa, just not a very good one either. Smell is of citrus, mild grapefruit, tea and fresh-cut grass on the back end. Taste mostly brings out a clean, crisp ipa with grassy hops on the finish. Not very complex or inviting, and it is hard to discern what the brewers were aiming for, given that they already have a vastly superior offering - the Space Dust IPA. I would have expected this beer to blow my socks off, sadly it did not as much as even whisper....

Clear copper amber colored beer with a small white head. The head sustains itself but isn't very large at all.

Smells hoppy with a mostly citrus scent. Mainly the scent is grapefruit. Smells of wood and strong tea but no particular type.

Starts out neutral sweet and fairly bitter and a bit astringent. Tastes herbal and of strong tea. Woody and herbal, the taste doesn't change much.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is really closer to a British style IPA than an American one. It's OK but I have several permanent resident beers in my refrigerator that are better.

A lovely pour in the tall Blanche de Chambly glass: golden yellow with a tall, long-lasting head. Some cookie dough flavor with a hint of vanilla. The whole spectrum of citrus flavors make an appearance. Bitter peel finish.

Applesauce! Label says this is brewed with Mandarina and Equinox hops. It's an interesting combination, both fruity and piney. Some lingering bitterness in the aftertaste but it's quite drinkable.

22oz bottle served in pint glass. Beer pours pale golden in color and forms a moderate white foam. Juicy / tropical / citrus aroma. Flavor is super citrusy, fresh, and sharp. The hop flavors here are immediate, almost astringent. Despite the fact that this is an IBU monster, the finish is really clean.

Good flavors = good IPA. I'm liking this but I think it still falls below Manic IPA series favorites Space Dust and Dayglow... possibly even Savant.

Poured into an IPA glass from a 22 oz bomber. I think this was from snaotheus.

Color is clear gold with a medium frothy white head. Aroma is grassy and floral, maybe a bit of lemon. Initial flavor is bitter - borderline astringent - grapefruit rind, hay and some pineapple. Finish is bitter and lingering. Body and carbonation are medium/moderate with some nice hop resins. Overall, a good beer, but missing some balance.

22oz bottle served in a large mug. Can't find a date on it, but I think it hit the shelf in my Total Wine on 2015-10-07.

Pours clear golden, with a smallish pale head and medium carbonation. Smell is nice -- straw, grass, toastiness. Citrus and tropical fruit.

Taste is a direct reflection of the aroma, but with greater emphasis on the citrus and tropical fruit. Nice crisp bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. Very good IPA.
