On tap at The Blue Tusk along with three other Elysian pumpkin beers. Apaprently held back from the public tap list, only mentioned for those "in the know" Very malt liquor with a fainter pumpkin taste. Not so interesting to drink, though taste is passable

Poured from tap at Saraveza Portland during Elysian Pumpkin Festival into spooky little Elysian Halloween snifter.
Golden orange hue with thin white head that clings a nice lace.
Smells lightly of beer (malts and possibly grain) and pumpkin, though very muted.
This is the first beer I have ever tasted which tastes almost exactly like eating raw pumpkin. No spice. Just pumpkin. The malt liquor is light enough to allow the pumpkin to shine.
Texture is light with okay balance, decent finish.
Overall not a great beer, but as far as looking for pumpkin flavor in a beer... this is it. Not pumpkin pie (which is what most pumpkin ales go for with the addition of spices), this is just pumpkin plain and simple.

Reviewed on 10/3/08. On tap at Blind Tiger. I was both scared and intrigued to try this beer. Pours a deep orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweet malt and citrus (orange). Flavor of light citrus fruit. Somewhat drinkable but nothing special. It was a long night, but I remember liking this...???

"Pumpkin malt liquor (their house malt liquor is called AK-47) brewed with pale malt and flaked corn in the mash, pumpkin puree in the mash, kettle and fermenter, and dextrose in the boil. A single addition of Magnum hops provides barely detectable bitterness. Fermented with lager yeast for smooth body and flavor, and yes, some good ol' food grade Yellow #6 for a bright orange hue (you wouldn't want some hippy, all-natural food dye in an authentic malt liquor, would you?."
On tap at the Cambridge Brewing Company during their Great Pumpkin Festival on 10/31/08.
Pours a clear, deep, artificial looking coppery orange that arrives with no head. Zero retention or lacing, just some oily residues that slide down the glass. The aroma is some pumpkin meat, light spices, malt sweetness, and corn.
The taste is definitely pumpkin with a blast of spices that fades pretty quickly into a sticky feeling base of corn and malt. Just a touch of bitterness rears itself towards the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a beefier feel and carbonation that flares up better than I would have expected given the dead appearance of this. The higher ABV isn't readily apparent in the taste but there is a touch of alcohol heft.
Elysian contributed a pretty strange addition to the Fest but like most of the other breweries, seemed to pull off exactly what they were looking for. A Pumpkin Malt Liquor! This isn't a style that I'm normally too high on but at least the pumpkin theme of this kept things interesting and really did show that pumpkin can be applied to just about any style.
