As with the Daedalus stout, this dunkelweizen starts with an outstanding aroma that sets in motion some expectations for the taste. The aroma is potent and classic in its orientation towards clove and banana. It's really quite exceptional.
The taste delivers notes of cinnamon, clove, and a hint of black cherry in quantities that are sufficiently present but not nearly as formidable as the aroma implies. There's no undo zest or peppery aspects.
Longest Night's mouthfeel is its least appealing attribute. The dark sorrel body is light in contour and suds and detracts somewhat from a greater appreciation of the flavor. Organic malts lend character, but the beer as a whole could stand more vitality.
