The menu just said "golden ale" so I really wasn't expecting a Belgian-style golden. But Siren's is Belgian throughout, courtesy of it's yeast and a touch of wheat that helps sustain a soft cap of white duff. The beer has animated carbonation, a spry Belgian nose, and comes to life by way of organic malts.
Though the body is smooth and the taste is appealing in the traditional Belgian sense of it, I was bothered by a slight pencil shaving taste that grows burdensome in the finish. This graphite-like terminus was perplexing and unwelcome though not insurmountable.
