On tap at Elysian Fields today.
OK, I haven't had the regular Bete Blanche, so maybe there's some explanation I don't understand regarding the making of this beer. Like the regular Bete Blanche, this beer is a Belgian style triple, with an abv. nearly identical. In any event....
The beer pours a solid gold color with OK head retention and lots of sticky lacing all around. The nose on this beer is pretty impressive, consisting of honey, cherry, a touch of funk and plenty of spice. Flavors generally replicate the nose, though there is some nice hoppy bitterness in the finish which counters the moderate sweetness very nicely. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, but there's an underlying richness and weightiness to this beer that is impressive. The beer finishes with a crisp, hoppy finish, and with alcohol that is barely noticelable. The beer is pretty drinkable, though I can't see myself pounding down multiple glasses at a seating. Still, this is a very nice beer from Hale's.
