Behold Skalrok, the bearer of the mighty Kveik yeast! A strong performance of malts and hops give this beer a moderately sweet, slightly bitter and subtly tart taste; but the real star in this group is the Kveik. This special yeast strain gives our Nordic Pale Ale a well-balanced flavor, and a citrus-forward aroma that is unforgettable. Just plunge into the mosh pit and see for yourself.

This is a light easy drinking beer from a 12oz bottle with a nice flavor profile. The Kveik yeast gives a nice Belgian type of taste, though different. For a light beer this is very good. Rated 11-10-2021

Appearance: Pours a moderately hazy (~50% opacity), medium to deep golden color with a mild white head. SRM of 7-8. (3.75)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of kiwi, berry, tropical fruit resin and some green bean notes off the end.
Flavor: Mild to moderate flavors of kiwi, orange, berries, with some yeast and tart pear notes on the end.
Feel: Medium to light bodied. Strong carbonation and yeasty on the mouthfeel.
Compared to Boulder Hazed and Infused 2/3/22: Pours a similar color, milder head. Milder aromas. More kiwi, berry, tart pear. Less citrus, flower, and pineapple. Less juicy and hazy, but more Kveik yeast.
Overall: The Kveik yeast is on display here as this one showcases flavors of some citrus, kiwi, berry, and lots of yeast flavors. Nice, but a bit light on the body and weak on the flavor. Props for showcasing the Kveik yeast, but could use a bit more tweaking here. (Rating: 3.59)

Hazy pale gold with two fingers of white head. Rings and swathes of lace appear as the levels drop.
Smell is floral citrus hops.
Taste is pungent citrus hops slightly bitter as well.
Mouthfeel is light and well carbonated. The finish is dry and slightly bitter.
Overall a unique (to me) pale ale. Best by 01 Apr 22.

Pours light gold and hazed. Decent head. Better lacing.
Nice APA aromas. Citrus and soapy/floral hops.
A true APA on the tongue in every way. Slightly sweet pale malt on the tip of the tongue, citrus and cracker in midstream, joining up with simple grassy balancing hop at the finish.
The oats are a nice addition on the tongue, making this a little more creamy and substantial than the average APA without making it heavy. Still a fairly abbreviated and drying finish.
A really nice APA. Very well balanced.

Labeled “Nordic Style Pale Ale”, this brew is incredibly hazy and a light straw color. The head is white and clingy. Fresh, citrus and melon smell. The taste is smooth and mildly sweet. Medium body and interesting. Not bad.

This is a very tasty pale with a not familiar yeast. A bit of citrus and and complex light malt. The yeast is , for me, is unusual and refreshing. Not heavy at all, easy to drink and satisfying.

Notes via stream of consciousness: This is labeled as a "Nordic-style Pale Ale" as it's brewed with Kveik yeast. That apparently gives it a citrus aroma. Interesting. It's poured a hazy golden body beneath a short cap of densely foamy white. The aroma is indeed citrusy, and a touch resinous and herbal - shall we say "dank"? I don't know what hops are in it so it's hard to tell how much of the citrus aroma is due to the yeast but I like it. The flavor also has a distinct citrus character that initially made me think of Yuzu, and the herbal and resinous character remains. It's not complex but it's unique, and quite enjoyable. Some of the herbal character lingers in the finish. The malt is light in flavor but also unique. I'm guessing that there are oats in here but I can't say for sure. I think there are because I get some of that flavor, but also because it's hazy. Despite its overall lighter character there is a richness to the malt that is there but I can't make out what it might be from. I initially thought maybe Munich malt but that's not right, and it's definitely not caramel malt. It's interesting. It's not that bitter and I'm going to guess at around 35 IBUs, but it's light in character, and a touch acidic which helps to dry it. It's light-medium in body with a moderate, very fine-bubbled carbonation that leaves it quite smooth. Ahh, I guess the oats are helping with that as well, and it explains the limited head to begin with and how quickly it dropped. It's a little like lemon and weed. I'm really drawn to it though because of its unique character, and yet at the same time I could also easily polish off the entire bottle without really thinking about it. Compelling and "crushable".
