On tap at Latona Pub. Seattle, WA. July 1st, 2011.
Collaboration between Elysian and New Belgium. Trip IX is referred to as the Down Under IPA. Brewed with actual passion fruit and hops from New Zealand and Australia.
A: Golden orange in appearance with a small foam head with medium lacing.
S: Tropical fruit, particularly passion fruit. Pine is also present but faint compared to the fruity aroma.
T: Passion fruit is the big flavor here, which is not surprising consdering that is the focus of this beer.
M: Medium carbonation, typical for an IPA.
O: Very interesting IPA. The passion fruit brings a nice change of pace to the typical citrus/orange/grapefruit flavor structure of most IPAs. Really sad that this is a one-off batch, I'd love to have it again.
