Monument is Observatoriet's most exclusive Wild Ale. Its beautiful golden colour owes to a long boil for natural caramelization. The beer is matured for a longer time, resulting in great complexity in flavor. When maturation ends it is spiced and cold hopped to elevate it further. Brewed to enjoy on its own, or perhaps enjoy with dark meats or cheeses. This bottle of Monument was aged 20 months on oak.

Copenhagen 6/4 2026. 37,5 cl heavy glass bottle from Den Gamle Købmand, Skt. Annæ Plads. Kbh. K. Dark blue label in Observatoriet's usual design with the name of the brewery in silver and the beer in white letters. They describe it as a "Peninsula Wild Ale".

Pours unclear orange with a small white head. A bit bubbly. Settles as a thin patch of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is intense with a sweet odor of ripe berries and alcohol mingling with a stronger tart scent of sour fruits. Touch of wood. Currants and cherries. Vinous alcohol. Tart gooseberries and a whiff of vinegar Citrus.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a strong tart sourness. Aftertaste is sour. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry.

Truly a monument to Observatoriets production of Wild Ales. The fairly high ABV suits it well.
