A deep tawny reddish hued Irish-inspired ale with a lingering nut-like maltiness. Very lightly hopped with a pleasant estery fruitiness expiring to wonderfully smooth finish. Slainte!

Dark amber with decent head. Sweet malt nose. Medium-light malty body with some crispness. Finish is off-dry per style. OK but not outstanding. Revisited in 2023 and it fared better so I have increased some of my rating elements.

Here's hoping this one's better than the Cadian Cream Ale from the same combo pack.

A: It looks good. Chestnut and clear, with a couple fingers of light tan head that lingers and lingers.
S: Malty sweetness, a hint of milk chocolate. Not really what I expected for a red ale, but I'm not complaining either!
T: Very malty, balanced with some grassy hops. A good brew.
F: Smooth and very drinkable.

This isn't my new favourite beer, but I'd certainly be willing to buy it again when I'm back east in the Maritimes. I did expect something hoppier, but that's because my main experience of amber/red ales has been Parallel 49 Gypsy Tears.

This beer pours a copper colour with impressive clarity and a great creamy head that settles to a thin foamy layer.

The aroma is that of nutty, toasted and sweet caramel with some grassy hops in the background. The mouthfeel is creamy and medium-bodied but carried with a full malt flavour that starts off as a sweet caramel and then moves towards a toasted character in the middle.

This is quite a nice drinkable red ale that is more malt forward and slightly nutty than I'd prefer.
