Dementia Double IPA

A- yellow in color nice white head, good retention, and nice lacing.

S- Grapefruit seems to dominate, maybe a little pine.

T- Major citrus with a light carmel background, good bitterness.

M- Medium body, with great carbonation that made the beer a bit creamy.

D- Great drinker, to me there was little indication that ABV was so high. I believe that this is a seasonal release from the pumphouse, I wish that they would release there seasonal products in bottles as they are always great.

We had this one at the great Canadian beer tasting, but to be honest my recollection is hazy. I do remember thinking that this is a great brew - extremely hop forward and fresh tasting, just as we knew NASH would deliver. I feel like it uses some amarillo. Likewise, the nose is full of hops - loadfs of citrus and grass. Extremely leafy. Medium body and carbonation. ABV is well-hidden, making it a dangerous brewer.

I wish I could recall more... this was really well done.

A: Clear yellow, white head, some retention & lace.

S: Big grapefruit & pine, tangerine & a little grass.

T: Fresh grassy hops, tangerine, nectarine, plenty of bitterness. It's all about the hops. It's leaning towards a '4.5', but I think it could use a hint of malt to back it up.

M: Well-attenuated, moderate body has an off-dry finish.

D: A good drinker, especially at this strength.

Another great Canadian DIPA, right up there in Humulus Ludicrous territory. Looks much like a DIPA should, clear, amber hued brew with a one finger off white head. Not much for lacings and only moderate head retention.

Loads of hops in this one. Citrus, grapefruit, hints of mint and pine all present and dominate the brew as per the style. Some crusty wholegrain bread and caramel also present, but this one is almost all about the hops.

A great Canadian hop bomb! Gobs of grapefruit with hints of citrus, some pine resin and mint with hints of papaya and pineapple in resinous quantities. Caramel and some crusty bread present from the malts.

A medium bodied hoppy brew, almost resinous and stripping. Some alcohol warmth evident but like the malts it just is not able to stand up to the hop induced dementia. Moderate level of carbonation helps to deliver the hoppy goodness.

A very drinkable IPA that does a great job of showcasing the hops. Some alcohol warmth reveals itself, yet it is dementedly drinkable, although sessioning a beer with 8.2% abv is obviously not recommended.

Kudos to NASH for brewing this wonderful hop delivery vehicle. Its nice to see something like this despite the hop shortage, and even nicer to see something like this being brewed right here in Canada. It would be nice to take this head to head with a fresh Hopslam or perhaps a Maharaja. I suspect the Dementia would hold up quite nicely to these heavyweights as well as any other DIPAs. Brew this again!
