Reflective of the season Oktoberfest has a rich amber hue, medium body and malty bouquet. Blending together 4 roasts of barley to create a delicious harmony of sweet flavours including caramel and toffee. The elegant bitterness imparted by the German Noble hops keeps it perfectly balanced and provides a wonderful transition from the lighter beers of summer to the winter's heartier brews. Prosit!

Slightly hazy red-amber with almost no head. Inviting sweet caramel nose. Thinnish body, prickly carbonation, very crisp.

Serving Type: 341 mL Bottle
A- Slightly hazy Amber with a creamy off-white head. Decent amount of lacing on the glass.
S- Malty Caramel, slight nutty aroma. Light leafy hop aroma to balance things out.
T- Bready malt with a big hit of caramel/toffee, slight vanilla balanced with a subtle leafy hop flavour.
M- Medium Body with light-moderate prickly carbonation.
O- Great Local example of the Oktoberfest style. Nice Malt-forward brew although still well balanced with the leafy hops.

341ml bottle, 5.7% ABV - thanks to the Pump House rep for the samples.
This beer pours a clear, medium golden amber hue, with one stubby finger of thinly foamy off-white head, which leaves nothing but a low ebb of meniscus lace around the glass as it quickly seeps away.
It smells of biscuity caramel malt, some sweet vanilla and toffee notes, and faintly earthy hops. Strangely alluring, this. The taste is more sweet bready malt, with heavy hints of caramel and toffee, and slightly edgier vanilla bean, a very subtle oily nuttiness, and those tame, but crucially essential noble hops, manifesting as some soft earthy leafiness at this juncture. No perceptible warming from the craftily elevated ABV.
The carbonation is a tad prickly, but to no ill end, the body a somewhat wavering middleweight, and mostly smooth, a very slight metallic twinge popping in out, weirdly. It finishes on the sweet side, but with enough lingering hops and inherent breadiness to stave off any sort of cloying overage.
Having never sat at a long wooden table, amongst hundreds, in Bavaria at this time of year, I can't profess to know exactly what a real Oktoberfest beer should taste like. However, from enough research, and sampling of bottled offerings from around the world, I've come to expect certain aspects as such. And Pump House's effort, in particular, displays the majority of them in spades, and they conveniently work rather well with the nice balmy fall day that inspired this whole deal.

Appearance - Typical colour for this style. A nice Amber/copper in color. Slightly hazy and only minimal head.
Smell - a little bit of malty sweet with a hint of nuttyness. No noticeable hop armoa.
Taste - Like the smell, there is a bit of malty sweetness. Very little hop characteristic is apparent. It has a citrusy attribute which I have found mostly in white beers.
Mouthfeel - This has a fairly lean mouthfeel and carries a relative low carbonation levels
Drinkability - The beer was presented well, drank well, and was a good temperature. I found the citrusy taste unappealing. I would not mark this a prime example of the style.

A: Poured with an average-sized, off-white head. Some spare lacing on the sides of the glass. Body is an amber/orange color, and quite cloudy.
S: Mild, sweet aroma of malt, with a little nuttiness to it.
T: Pretty good flavor of average malt, and moderately sweet. Short duration - doesn't really last too long after it's gone. The nuttiness is in there again, with the malt.
M: Medium-bodied and creamy texture, with average carbonation.
D: A very decent Oktoberfest, if not the best I've had. While it may not be overly interesting, it definitely is easy to drink.
