05/16/07- Had on tap at Wolfpack Brewing in West Yellowstone, MT.
Presentation- From the tap into an 8oz pout glass.
Appearance- Very black in color. Dirty brown 1/4 inch staying power head. Leaves nice patches of lace behind.
Smell- Dark roasted and burnt malt with a touch of malted chocolate. Mmmm.
Taste- Top notch for this style. Makes Guiness look like cat pee. Creamy, light chocolate dusting flavor with a heavily roasted and nutty malt flavor.
Mouthfeel- Creamy, low carbonation and lightly coating. Feels like a high abv than is.
Drinkability- I wanted a growler of it, but the guy wouldn't compromise his beer because of the nitro tap and the beer not holding up in the growler. Dammit! Very sessionable and I wish I had more.
