Having lived in Bellingham, I'm quite familiar with Boundary's beers. I was quite happy to see them at OBF this summer, especially with an IPA. I remember the Cascade flavor & aroma of many of their beers, and figured the IPA wouldn't disappoint.

The beer is a handsome bronze with a respectable crown of foam. The aroma is a wonderfully invigorating citrus and field medley. The malt body isn't much different than their Bitter, or their Amber, or their scotch... but its very nice. The bitterness is quite multifaceted. Saliva inducing bitter end, thirst quenching middle, and fruity introduction, all which transition smoothly for a nice hop experience.

Medium orange color. Medium head. Aroma is floral hops, and fruit. A full bodied IPA. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are floral, grapefruity and dry. The dry hopping brings out the helps balance the malt sweetness. A nicely balanced, bone dry, somewhat bitter IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is bitter

I tried the regular IPA first and thought it pretty hoopy but this beer blew the doors off which is always a good thing. Big hop nose and big hop taste but with a malt backbone this beer is very well made. The alcohol is bumped up so this is no session brew but try have pint with a spicy sandwich or pizza. I really wish that BC brewpubs would even attempt this kind of beer.

Sampled in a 6 oz. taster at the Wa State Summer Brewfest.

(Apparently produced as a double dry hopped version of the IPA for this festival)

Big green leafy grapefruit aroma as if someone chucked a whole grapefruit with leafs into a blender. The hazy orange color of the beer reflects this as well.

Flavor is grapefruit and lemon peels with just enough malt to keep pace with a growing hop sensation.

Finish is unsurprisingly bitter with a light touch of butter providing a salve for the taste buds.
