Also known as "Bellingham Blonde"
Silver Medal for Golden or Blonde Ale at the 2022 Great American Beer Festival.
This is a golden-hued, light-bodied ale with a floral hop aroma. This classic blonde ale is well balanced with low bitterness and a light malty sweetness. This refreshing brew’s crisp finish makes it the perfect complement to any excursion in the Pacific Northwest.
Malts: 2-Row Pale | Pilsner | Munich | Vienna | Dextrin
Hops: Mt. Hood | Cascade | Saaz

Pours a crystal clear golden color. Thin, fizzy white head doesn't show much in the way of head retention. Aroma has notes of white bread, light toastiness, a bit of sweetness, with a light orange tinged note on the back end.
Taste follows the nose with notes of lightly toasted white bread and malts. Hints of orange and light dried grass. Light hops, a touch of yeasty spice, with a light sweet honey finish. Feel is light to medium bodied, but still manages to be pretty crisp and easy drinking. Sweet finish.
Overall a very nicely brewed blonde ale. It is a style I do not drink too often, but ones like this remind me that perhaps I should revisit the style more often.

Poured at fridge temp from a can. Pours Golden yellow with a solid amount of white head. Dissipates quickly. Bubbles rising throughout. Nose is wheat, orange, crackers, grass, earth, a touch of bread, and a little bit of honey. Really smooth and fairly light on the nose.
The taste is really nice. Smooth, light, and crisp. Sweet upfront. A bit of candy malts, honey, banana, grass, a touch of spice, a bitter hoppy back end, and a little bit of a floral taste. Really nice.
Mouthfeel is dry, light, and a bit crisp. Overall, this is a really nice blonde ale.

2023 UPdate: Now just called "Blonde," this has a tangy hoppy note that is really pleasant. Highly quaffable with a nice spicy aftertaste. They seem to be doing good things recently at Boundary Bay.
Clear amber brew with ample foam in the Brigand chalice. Quite spritzy on the tongue, with a club soda taste. This is drier than many of the style, and I guess that's a good thing. Biscuits and berries and then bark in the finish. Aftertaste is on the mineral side, which is also different.
None of the usual corn flavor, or flabbiness. Quite crisp though I wouldn't call it flavorful. Still, it's pleasantly mouthfilling with the carbonation and highly quaffable. From the 12 oz can purchased at the Co-op market.

Recently I have sampled several blonde ales to compare Boundary Bay to, and am already a fan of the style.
The can dates 6/27/21. In the glass it pours with clarity, only a slight haze. SRM listed as 4 and I would agree, a paler gold. The head a bright thin white and fast to dissipate. Carbonation is active and super tight. Subtle lacing.
Biscuit on the nose upon first passing. A surprising touch of lemon and healthy dollop of honey! Hops are floral of lavender and spicy. There is a very slight must, wet cardboard, but not particularly distasteful lest it carry onto the palate. Minor clove/banana ester.
It taste like biting into a pillowy honey biscuit. Humble compared to the nose, straightforward. Next to no hoppiness and a very gentle but appreciated malt sweetness.
Very light, very soft. Carbonation like velvet. A short-medium finish leaves the desire for a second sip.
Overall, Bellingham Blonde fits the style and is lighter in body than others. All around modest, even for a blonde. It would pair well with raw veggies, dishes with little oil, or to tone down spice. I would drink this on location but probably not buy a six pack.
