I had to compare this beer with Granville Island very fine Scottish Ale and I must say that this beer suffers in comparison. The Boundary Bay beer has an odd nose that suggests lots of hops which is really not true to the style. I also noticed a strange didacytl flavour that didn't really work for me. This is probably one of their weaker beers in an otherwise excellent selection.

On tap at Redbones... displayed a tempting dark chestnut color, with a little garnet thrown in. The head was tan, thin and fine, and left decent glass-lacing. Nose was malty and sweet, yet somewhat on the subdued side. Had good mouthfeel overall; medium body and almost above-medium smoothness. Found some sweet, malt flavor, with a bit of toffee thrown in. I also detected some peaty notes, to boot. The finish was a smidge dry, yet it left a lovely, lingering aftertaste. Like most good biers, flavor and nose improved with warmth. Quite a nice offering! Cheers!
