12oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured a nearly solid black color with about 1-3/4 inches of tan head that had pretty good retention an almost no lacing.

The aroma was the expected roast forward, butter hopped back that typifies the style. Similar on the tongue, with the roast being notably stronger, and the hops bitier.

The body was typical, a touch on the the light side of medium, a touch coarse, and had a semi-dry finish. Drinkability was OK, would likely be better if one was a fan of the style.

Overall, a fairly average example of the style.

Pours a clear dark cola color with a slightly creamy light tan head that laces the glass nicely. Beautiful beer. The nose features substantial resiny pine notes and a roasty char and some cocoa as well. Wow.

The resiny pine is clearly the headline performer in this dark IPA, but it’s the roasty char and cocoa that really makes this for me. Delicious stuff.

The mouthfeel is medium and dry, making this a quick quaffer. This is very well done, IMHO, and exemplary of Boundary Bay’s prowess as a brewery.

Dark dark brown with nice light brown head. Head took a while to settle and did so in sinkhole form slowly into a think layer with some decent lacing.

I could smell this beer the whole time I was taking the picture. It smelled like hops when you happen to visit a brewery on brew day. Upon smelling the glass I get sap, earthiness, and some char/burnt/roast aromas.

Taste is a very nice roasted sappy dark chocolate combination. The earthiness comes out almost as woodsy on the finish and the roast flavor linger and lingers and lingers so nicely.

Medium body, smooth, nice bitterness, cleans and dry finish. Im struggling not to drink this one too fast.

Love this beer. It’s got so many flavors I love all rolled up into a super well balanced and drinkable beer.
