Zythos is the latest in BB's Single Hop Pale Ale series. Using the same malt bill and yeast with each batch and only one hop. Zythos is not a specific hop variety but a blend of several and was recently created by one of the nations largest hop suppliers.
Served in straight pint glass the beer poured the medium yellow gold that's been typical for the style and had a fluffy, white head that had good retention and light lacing.
The aroma was very citrus hop forward, I got a healthy dose of lemon, and a fairly even and benign malt foundation. The taste was also nicely citrusy and had a smooth malt background with a clean finish.
The body was nice, smooth, even and clean. Drinkability was very good my couple of pints disappeared very quickly and I look forward to having more while it's on tap. Overall, a pretty nice beer and an interesting edition in the series. A must try if you see it.
