Had a glass on tap that came served with a lemon wedge. I quickly removed the lemon but it may have been too late. The beer was overwhelmed by a lemony flavor - though I suspect this was the natural flavor of the beer with or without the lemon wedge.
As a wheat beer, this doesn't have the rich flavor that often defines the style, or the dryness of many of the American wheats. It is an easy to drink, accessible brew but lacking in character. Adequate, inoffensive, did a good job accompanying my lunch, but nothing too special here.

This was the first beer I ordered when I sat down to eat. The waitress described it as a "hefeweizen" but I had a gut feeling it would be an American wheat ale. She (and the menu) recommended it served with a lemon wedge. Hold the wedge. It had a murky light tan color and a thin bubbly head. Little lace was noted and the carbonation was lacking, also.
The smell had notes of grainy malt but not much of anything else. A faint whiff of citrusy hops leaked out, almost like it was trying to escape undetected. The taste was rather typical of most American wheat ales and typified why I don't really care much for the style. Some grainy, dusty, hayfield-inspired maltiness dominated the taste and a moderate bitterness came through in the finish but there just didn't same to be much going on, taste-wise. The feel was medium-light, a bit thin and slick.
Overall, Desert Wheat Ale was the personification of most American wheat ales I've tried; rather bland and lifeless. I'd skip this one and go for their APA.
