Copenhagen 20/5 2024. 50 cl bottle from Rewe, Europa Passage, Hamburg. White and brown label with Lübzer's logo of a Lighttower on a red background.

Pours clear yellow with a small white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin patches of foam floating about. Disappears after a while. No lacing.

Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor with a touch of metallic alcohol. Sweet pale malts and bread. Caramel and alcohol. A bit sugary.

Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish with a boozy streak. Lingers for a bit. Finish is metallic and sweet.

It might be a Urkraft - but non an especially pleasant one.

Somewhat insipid and syrupy, but drinkable for a budget brew.

500ml Bottle: BBD Nov 2013. Drank in my Berlin hotel room on 25 Feb 2013.

Golden brown, clear and clean: no head. Even though it was poured three times into a small tumbler I couldn't get it to produce any form of covering.

This beer looked like and tasted like a fizzy malt drink: I wasn't impressed at all.

Really pop like, couldn't even get any of the 6% ABV feel. Strange sweet brew that must be produced for the younger crowd or something, not hardened beer drinkers.

I'll not be seeking this out again.

A: Pours copper with a somewhat uneven white large a bit soapy head. Faint lacings.

S: Sweet malt, slightly roasted. Some bitter hops and some citric notes.

T: Creamy sweet malt. The alcohol is noticable. Considering the style; balanced hops - both bitter and floral.

M: Medium body and carbonation. Medium-long aftertaste that holds both bitterness and sweetness. The alcohol is noticable again in the aftertaste.

D: One of the better Euro Strong Lagers I've had, but the alcohol is a bit lower than others I've had and that was obviously not a bad thing.

Picked up a rack of local beers during a recent trip to Berlin and this was one of them. Deep golden yellow pour with a really quickly fading head and minimal lacing. Malty, sweet nose but pretty subdued. Lots of sweet malt and bread with just a hint of fruitiness in the taste. A little metalic bitterness on the finish. Very unique beer but a little too sweet for my liking.
