If you're at the Hockenheimring, either for the Formula 1 race or whatever, this place is about 10 minutes car drive from the race track to the dead center of town.
The place was nice, a little too much concrete underfoot, but it was a passable Biergarten. The inside of the Brauhaus was all wood, almost modern but warm in style. You'll notice a lot of empty chairs in some of these pics. First, we arrived at 5 pm and left at 6-ish, but like I said, it is a sleepy little town.
After a while there, we were hungry, and after a little snooping on the app Around Me, I discovered there's a Brauhaus/Gastwirtshaft in the town of Hockenheim, which is a really sleepy small town.
For the food and beer. I had a normal old Wienerschnitzel, which was outstanding, crisp breaded outside with juicy pork inside, and spätzle. If you don't know what spätzle is, it's a Schwäbisch noodle-like specialt, but doughier. Sorry, I didn't think it looked special, but it tasted great. My girlfriend's dish was more interesting, though, and deserved photo documentation. First she had breaded Camembert cheese, which you put on the bread and cover with black currant spiced jam:
Then she had a baked potato wrapped in a wild aluminum for of a crane or swan, which you added chives and heavy sour cream.
The beer was quite good, but not wow-great, but still, it was a nice surprise to find the great food and much above average beer in this place. By "above average," I mean a lot better than any Fernsehbiere available at most places, and it was damn fresh, cloudy, so unfiltered, and you really could taste this.
Anyway, if you decide to see the F1 next year in Hockenheimring, this is the place to eat and drink. I doubt many of you are F1 fans, but you never know.
