In collaboration with Eriksen Rum, we have created this barrel-aged stout.
The oak barrel has a long history of circumnavigating the globe on the Danish frigate “Iver Huitfeldt”, where the Atlantic Ocean’s eddies and harsh monsoon winds have created a distinctive flavor that contributes to a pleasantly balanced taste experience with elegant notes of rum, oak, roasted grain and chocolate.

Copenhagen 6/5 2023. 50 cl bottle from BeerShoppen web-shop. Kolding Gårdbryggeri's usual label design with a close up of tree rings on an old stub.
Pours opaque dark brown with a mid-sized beige head. Stable. Settles as thin, unbroken layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, dark malty scent soon overpowered by earthy and sourish notes. Boozy undertone. Dark roasted malts, raisins. Leather. Sour milk. Dark Rum.
Low carbonation. Rather thick, oily, soft, slightly viscous, almost flat texture.
Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a dry touch. Lingers for a while. Finish is dry with a touch of dark alcohol.
Potent without being overly boozy.
