Beer # 2 from my 2025 Advent Calandar......

A- Pours a very clear golden color, that is until a gentle swirl of about 50 ml is done and added to the glass, providing a somewhat hazy, yeast looking Pils. There are plenty of rapidly rising columns of carbonation racing to the top of the liquid, and the lacing is soapy looking, with clumps of foam gently trying to grasp the inside of my glass before eventually sliding back into the brew. The head is nice and white, starting out about one and a half fingers in thickness, before settling rather quickly into a thinly veiled layer over top the beer. A ring appears as well but seems to only be sustained by the breaking bubbles....overall this isn't a super exciting Pilsner to look at, and I'm a little disappointed in this category.

S- Super hoppy aroma right off the bat, with plenty of citrus like zest (grapefruit, lime, pomelo), fresh leafy green hop cones, pine needles, and undertones of damp forest floor. There are balancing aromas of biscuity caramel sweet malts, lighter crystal malt and faint golden sugar enrichment. The finish is clean smelling and dry hop leaf returns to enamour the nostrils.

T- This doesn't remind me of a Pilsner in the traditional sense of tart, crisp saaz hop bitterness, but rather this one is more a balance between golden malt sweetness and various hop cleanliness. There is a distinct yeasty, creamy sweet-ish malt profile here, with biscuity richness that is balanced by Saaz and citrus rind oiliness to counteract everything. The finish is flavorful, and while I get the end result of bitterness on the palate, it is somewhat cloying and the malt sweetness lingers for awhile...don't get me wrong, it's tasty, but not the way I was expecting.

M/O- The mouthfeel is definitely more of a medium-full bodied beverage, and the carbonation is very smooth and lacking that zesty quality that I look for in a Pils. The alcohol is well hidden and the overall flavor is nice....I just think it is a bit flabby for the style and not exactly in tune with what is being presented here.....more of a New Zealand style Pale Ale in my opinion. Food pairings....something savoury and something with a bit of spice....say a Sweet and Sour stirfry with some chili oil blended in....this will cut through....on it's own, I would enjoy a pint, and perhaps a second before tiring of it, so drinkability is good, not great. Overall theres nothing wrong with this beer, but I find it a little underwhelming and put it in line with average to perhaps a tick above.....would have an Urquell or Pheasant anytime if given the choice
