Sønderborg, 5/4 2023. 33 cl bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. Dark blue label with cartoonish birds celebrating Christmas while drinking beer.
Pours opaque dark brown with a huge beige head. Stable. Settles as thin, creamy layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with sweet alcohol and earthy notes. Dark roasted malts, brown sugar and toffee. Leather and a bit of peat. Light whiff of oranges.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a rather strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingering. Finish is dry with a boozy touch.
Nice, dry Imperial Christmas stout.
