Wood Foot is located in the heart of the tourist district in Fort Walton Beach, on a strip of bars and restaurants next to a nice public park on the water called The Landing. The main seating area is a well-lit and open room with a bar and simple tables. The brewing area is just visible down a hallway, but it is not really on display. There is also a large outdoor patio with a roof for shade that is very popular. There is a good amount of free parking for the brewery and also across the street for the park.
I visited this brewery in the early afternoon on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, but I got there before the tourist crowd had really gotten established. When I visited, the indoor and outdoor seating areas were only sparsely occupied and the vibe was mellow and pleasant. There was an alternative rock playlist going, but at a low volume so conversation was not affected. There was one bartender and another gentleman who was waiting delivering food to those who ordered it, but all ordering was at the bar. I was not interested in the food, so I don't have any comments on it. The bartender was knowledgeable on their beer and helpful with suggestions.
There were 8 house beers on tap, 3 guest beers, and one THC limeade. The house beers had a nice variety, including a standard IPA, an amber, a Sour IPA, a Mango Milkshake IPA, another sour, and more. They offered a wide number of choices for such a small menu. The ones I tasted were pretty good, but didn't knock my socks off. I also grabbed some cans out of their "to go" cooler so I could rate a few more later.
This is a nice place to grab a beer or two as an oasis among the tourist crowds. They seem to take pride in what they're doing, and that counts for a lot with me.
