Presentation: Sampled at the Red Shed, Wakefield during my Easter Trip back to the UK.
Pump #2 during my Sunday afternoon session, had yet another new brew for me to try, and it was hard to miss the funky Pumpclip advertising the Almas Brew from Oldershaw Brewery, for the green background had a picture of the Pumpclip inside a circle on it, yet that picture of the Pumpclip also had a picture of the Pumpclip, and so it goes, the regressive pictures of the ever-shrinking Pumpclips dazes the eye. Listed at 4.1% ABV in the top right hand corner of the Clip.
Appearance: Copper brown body with some reddish hints. Soft white head, breaks to a thin covering that does not last long, head retention was minimal. Low carbonation was a distraction and seriously detracted from the presentation.
Nose: Hints of an English Bitter missed with some dark fruits. The nose has hints of rum & raisin too.
Taste: Malty start with some dark berry fruits in the middle. Little bitterness in this one, the body is predominantly malty and it benefits from a hint of the dark raisin fruitiness that you typically get from a ruby dark mild in the finish.
Mouthfeel: The disappointing conditioning depresses the feel in this one, and can make it a heavy brew to sink.
Drinkability: Middle of the Road appeal, it made for a good brew to sample whilst chatting with old friends on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Overall: Nothing outstanding, but enjoyable.
