A bottle-conditioned beer purchased (with staff's discount!!) at the Bottled British Beer stand, GBBF06. The beer label reads: "A golden premium beer, brewed using Optic Malt and Wheat with blend of First Gold and Cascade hops." BB Dec. 06, served cool in my GBBF06 pint glass.
A: pale amber hue, coming slightly hazy as some yeast-sediments fled into the glass... a very restrained beer head retains just a thin neck on top of the low carbonated beer.
S: yes, just like "what it says on the tin", a blend of floral First Gold and juicy, peachy and sweet flowery Cascade abounds... a pronounced edge of buttery note, raw-ish pale malts, as well as a stinky-sulphurous yeasty note cover the background. Slightly like Yates' YSD I tasted yesterday, but this one is smoother.
T: smoothly bitter-ish citrus-fruity hops approach together with a milder flow of chewy, biscuity malts, leaving plenty of malt-aroma at the back... ensued by a manifesting flow of soothingly floral hint of whole hops, mildly tangy citrus-peel flavour, while a residual tinge of bitter-piney yeasts and a tannic hoppy touch like grape-stems/seeds both hide in the end... a lo...ng carpet of soothing citric-bitterness subtly and silently wraps up the ever-evolving palate and stays at the root of the tongue forever...
M&D: the mouthfeel is nearly-superb, each sip comes with a refreshing flow of micro-scopic fizz to highlight the semi-rich citric flavour. Despite 5.3%abv, the beer tastes so light yet is full of body at the same time (does it make sense?)... Good bottle-conditioning efforts this beer has shown. A good-quality premium pale ale really worth trying and, quaffing!!
