i swore when i had this all the names of the hops were mashed together into one word, but looking it up now maybe i was wrong, either way, this is a modern and delicious west coast ipa, showcasing the best of these varietals, and its a nice combination, obviously krush is taking over the world right now, i knew it would, but elani is a rising star that does some cool stuff, and i think this is a nice little showcase of where the style has evolved to, very light on the malt, restrained on the bitterness too, mostly dry hopped it seems, thiol forward but without engineered yeast to me, bright and poppy, easy drinking and i like this one being a little lower alcohol too, nice for summer. the nose and taste exhibit a ton of cool fruit nuances from green gooseberry to white currant, lemongrass, ripe honeydew, and meyer lemon zest, all super fresh, and unmolested by a light grain base thats simple, dry, and even somewhat elegant in here. the bitterness is mid level, not a traditional west coast bomb, but not pure juice either, it still drinks like ipa. lighter body, lots of lift from the carbonation. ill always love mosaic at its best, its had a hell of a run and for good reason, but i have to say, mosaic was in literally everything for so long, over contracted and all of that, good for the farms i guess, but it meant a lot of samey ipa types. its cool to have a beer thats sort of in the post-mosaic era, not that i want that to be the case, but this is a newer brewery not beholden to mosaic the way so many others are, or have been. this is different for whats in it yeah, but also for what isnt, and i feel like that should be acknowledged here. even the citra is behind the others to me. maybe krush is the new mosaic, its going bonkers, time will tell. this is a tidy and contemporary ipa with an excellent hop complexion and i think high approachability. ill have to make time to drive out to the brewery next time i am on the eastern side of the state, both this and their vienna lager were great!
