A top-fermented bastard pale ale - a light, refreshing and pale straw-yellow summer beer with a discreet, soft spicy floral flavour and aroma. A tribute to pétanque - boules, which unites across differences in the most enjoyable way.

Copenhagen 17/4 2019. 50 cl bottle from Ølhandleren in Give (Web-shop). The usual elegant design with hand drawn sketchy drawing of a couple of Hop cones. Name seems to be a homage to the noble game of petanque.
Pours hazy amber with a small white head. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is lightly sweet with melon, peach and pear. Stronger odors of sour citrus, lemon and grapefruit. Acerbic and acidic odors dominate.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly prickly texture.
Flavor is lightly sweet followed by strong tart bitterness. Leads to semi-dry finish. Lingers for a bit.
I wonder if a homage to petanque shouldn't be a Biere de Garde or something along those lines. I will settle for a slightly unbalanced pale ale.
