On-tap 9/9/2014 at the brewpub in Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep black color, with a short beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains roasted malts, chocolate, citrus and a good amount of hops.
T: The taste starts out with a hearty roasted malt character. Then some mild sweetness comes in from flavors of chocolate and citrus. The hops presence is strong but not over-powering and provides a good balance in a style where it’s hard to achieve. The after-taste is slightly hoppy.
M: Crisp and very smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is dry and slightly sticky.
O: Very tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a good beer to drink for a while if you’re in the mood for the style.
