There I was, having lunch, minding my own business, when the bartender began pulling a beer for another patron. "Mitou!" I shouted in my best Franco-American voice.
The beer arrived with just a light, white head above a very cloudy, deep-amber colored beer. The nose had a greater malty sweetness than I expected, but that was okay. The mouthfeel was very soft, like a gentle caress of the tongue, accompanied by a subtle citrusy, fruity sweetness, like orange zest. It was on the finish that I got a nice, hoppy bite, one that lingered on well after the swallow. My one complaint might be that it was served a tad cold, but I am a patient man and allowed it to warm some. Cask beer is good.

Deep copper in color with no head. Looked flat and dull, which produced no lacing. The aroma was of light malt and some slight bitterness. This beer was unbalanced as the malt overpowered the bitterness and citrus tones. The bitterness was sharp and biting in an unpleasant way even though it was light compared to the malt. Mouthfeel was smooth with a mildly bitter, dry finish. Not a very good IPA at all.

I needed two of these to make a good assessment. Generally, a highly drinkable IPA. While I prefer Victory Hop Devil as my IPA of choice, this version had a decent amount of hop flavor. My main complaint is that the body is somewhat lacking. I find this to be typical of the chain-brewpubs, Gordon Biersch being another example.
All in all, the place was nice. Good place to spend an hour before going next door to Capital Grill.

Sadly, the best part about this bier was it's appearance. Nice copper color, with a small white heading, leaving a touch of lace down the glass. Nose...nose? Where is it? Hardly any hint of hops at all. The body was medium, and fairly smooth on the tongue. Taste was not at all what I was looking for in an IPA. Semi-sweet malty notes, pretty much throughout. Slight hint of hops at the end. (Unsure of this biers official name; perhaps rectify that later...)
