On-tap 8/23/09 at the brewpub Providence, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.
A: The beer is a deep amber color, with a short dense off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is of caramelized malts, spices, apples, dark fruits, some Belgian yeast and a touch of hops.
T: The taste is well-balanced with sweet flavors of caramel, dark fruits, apples and spices; bready flavors Belgian yeast and a hearty malt character. The hops presence is mild but complementary. The after-taste is slightly sweet.
M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, good kick, good representation of style, this is a nice Belgian style beer with some substance and complexity that makes it worth drinking for a long time.
