a not great simple honey wheat ale with orange and vanilla in it, way too much of both, and the orange seems more like flavoring or candy or even melted popsicle than real oranges, not sure what they used but it comes across as somewhat inauthentic, and the vanilla is super aromatic and powerful, overtakes the grain and makes what should be a pint a beer a rather desserty one and done for me, just overdone, and it comes at the expense of the honey for sure, the base beer cant support this dosage of extra flavor, straight up, and where their black ipa seemed to professional and promising, this one seems amateurish and even troubling. its under carbonated, feels heavy, and for things that sound like they go together super well, orange and vanilla, they really dont here, at least these iterations of those things dont, on account of how sweet it is overall, just hard to drink much of, maybe even incomplete fermentation. the sweetness really doesnt carry honey character for me, more like malt sweetness. fortunately their spot is neat, low key, nice outside space, pizza in the back, i dont think they had that when it was star route, and it was pretty tasty, so even a mid level pint would have appeased me, but this one is below that, too much flavoring to work. my least favorite of the three ive had from these guys so far by a wide margin, and this name is basically the neighborhood bicycle at this point, not a fan...
