So a couple things color this review. First, Belize is like many other tropical countries in that the beer is mostly cold and bland. Think pale lagers that are ice cold plus a couple random stouts. Second, soursop is a seasonal tropical fruit that the locals grew up with.
With that in mind, this was a nice change of pace from the local beers. Served on draft at Truck Stop, a cool outdoor food court frequented by tourists.
For the style, the appearance is the most disappointing part. Not very hazy although much hazier than anything else you can get.
Smell has citrus from the soursop. Pretty nice but could be more prominent.
Taste is more of the same. Sweet and sour. Some hoppy bitterness provides some balance. A bit more bitter than a typical NEIPA, but this is actually a positive thing.
Mouthfeel is a positive. Not as soft and smooth as you might expect for a NEIPA but it's there. Unlike most of the other local beers.
Overall, this is worth getting if you see it in Belize. Soursop is seasonal, and the beer is apparently only made when the fruit is in season (around July). If you are wanting a top-notch NEIPA like you might get in the states, this maybe isn't it. But if you want an unexpected treat as a contrast to the bland lagers that are everywhere, try this out if you see it.
