The label says HAYZ STREET IPA. The appearance is true to the advertising--this is hazy without being cloudy. Modest head even with a relatively vigorous pour, but the head sticks around and leaves plenty of small spots on the glass throughout the tasting. The liquid is dirty gold, approaching amber.
Mostly hoppy, but I do pick up on some corn meal smells. There's a bit of biscuit to the nose along with some white pepper spice. The smell has a nice toasted bread to it. Well-balanced.
This reminds me of the IPAs of yore, when they were first introduced to the American palate. There's the start of soft pale malt. Mostly dry. This succumbs to the peppery hop taking over and creating a straight up bitter swallow. The body and carbonation are neutral. The aftertaste is dry, bitter, and lingering.
